Print Advertising

Dental-Marketing-Ads

We design ads of all sizes for print media ranging from newspapers and Yellow Pages, to Valpak® and Money Mailer®, to neighborhood association directories and high school event programs. The type of print ads that will integrate well with your current marketing depends on your area and the kind of patients you wish to bring into your practice. Breaking down your marketing budget by project can help illuminate where print ads could best be used for your practice. Whatever your print ad needs, we’re ready to take your order! We’ll ask for size and color specs, and sometimes we can get directly in touch with your newspaper or YP rep for the nitty-gritty specifications for your ad. We can also consult with you about your placement options.

Evaluation Before Recommendation

Print ads were the first form of “acceptable” advertising in the field of dentistry, and the chief form for many years. Advertising in phone directories and newspapers has been very fruitful for dentists. In recent years, however, the immense success of this print advertising has been declining due to an increase in competition, more aggressive dental marketing in general, and the impact of the internet. We know that image, new patient flow, and return on your marketing investment are all of great import to you and the well-being of your practice, so we evaluate each situation before recommending a print ad. We encourage clients to examine whether their market, community, and the paper or periodical in consideration is desirable for print advertising.

Community Newspapers

As many large city newspapers around the country are struggling, local community papers are gaining ground and offering a good place for advertising your dental practice. Depending on how many other dentists are advertising in your community’s paper, you probably don't need a full page ad to have an effective ad. We suggest quarter to half page ads the majority of the time, and we recommend full color if you can afford it. Ask your newspaper rep if they can offer you a bundle or package deal. Contracting an ad to run a few weeks in a row usually gets you a discount, and ads shouldn’t run for less than three weeks anyway. As part of our print ad design and coordination, we can assist you in deciding on a run schedule that will complement your direct mail drop schedule.

Yellow Pages

When we’re asked about Yellow Pages, we reply – you guessed it – that this is an “it depends” marketing medium... It depends on your total marketing budget, on whether you want to welcome emergencies at your office, whether you've seen encouraging response from YP advertising in the past, and the list goes on. We have numerous clients whose answers to these questions lead them to stick with Yellow Pages, but we have others who choose to invest in other marketing means instead. Strategically utilizing YellowPages.com has been effective for some of our clients, too.
