When Should I Use a Super-Sized Postcard?

The best reason to use a postcard is to supplement a primary direct mailer, such as our 8-panel piece. Postcards are the ultimate one-focus piece to bang the drum for services like Lumineers®, advanced technology like dental lasers, and practice benefits like a kid friendly office and staff. Our super-sized postcard in particular is an immediately noticeable piece, because it sticks out of a pile of regular size mail. On top of that, when the design style of a postcard is congruent with your overall branding, people who have received direct mail from you before are more likely to recognize your marketing and take a look at your new piece. Yet another strong point of a postcard is the ease in which recipients can locate the offer, because simply flip it over and bon appétit! The “user-friendly” nature of a postcard, with two sides that present everything right there in front of you, makes it quick and easy to review and digest the content of the piece.
Another good reason to choose a postcard is to make an announcement, such as a grand opening, the addition of a second location, or a practice moving locations. You want such announcements to be instantly appealing and striking, but there’s no need to elaborate excessively on a message that can be communicated clearly and concisely on two sides of a postcard. We have designed super-sized postcards to announce new offices that had a photo-rich 8 panel mailer in the works, but since office build-outs frequently don’t finish until right before opening time, pictures can’t be taken soon enough for a pre-opening drop of the main mailer. In such a case, a postcard can act as an appetizer direct mailer. Then, when photos can be taken, the main mailer can be completed and sent out in a timely manner after the announcement postcard. We’d be happy to consult with you about how to wisely incorporate a postcard into your marketing program and mailing schedule.
A third reason to opt for a postcard is the all-important budget. As many of you probably know (maybe even from personal experience), dentists too often end up with a “marketing budget” that is merely leftovers after the rest of the monies have been allocated. This is not ideal because sufficient marketing funds help to preserve and maximize your investment in your practice, increasing the likelihood of keeping your schedule busy enough that you don’t have to use up your operating capital just to get by from day to day. Having said that, deciding on a super-sized postcard for a lower budget direct mail campaign can be a sensible choice to bring in enough new patients to get the cash flow going. Then, after things pick up, you can upgrade to an 8-panel or 6-panel piece for your next campaign run.
Speaking of budget shortages, we now offer financing so marketing program payments can be more manageable for offices with tighter budgets. Check out our financing page to learn more.
Many people we talk to feel skeptical about dental marketing in general. Especially since the surge of marketing in the field of dentistry is fairly recent, many dentists are still not convinced. A postcard can be a less intimidating way to wet your marketing whistle, but don’t let your uncertainty about marketing stop you from giving our tried and proven 8-panel mailer a chance. While there are apt places and opportune times for postcards in marketing activities, please allow us to reiterate how successful our 8-panel piece is.
If you are considering a postcard, we recommend our super-sized postcard before our large postcard, because it can fit more graphics and information.
